RPC ENG 5 L80

Hello! Here is my job for today from MSR.Fish!

Writing Assignment: Write a final draft of your essay on the following topic: What is your favorite way to learn and do schoolwork?

So here it is:

My most favorite way to do schoolwork would be when I am writing essays and my music is cranked up really loud. Because I love my music especially when it’s one of most favorite songs. I also enjoy writing my essays because I enjoy typing because it’s sort of like exercise for my fingers for when I’m doing math because I have to write with a pencil. Math is my least favorite subject thought. Another reason I enjoy doing schoolwork with music on is because for some reason it makes me concentrate better which is sort of weird. But I find doing the essays is much easier than the rest of the work. I also like doing my schoolwork with something or someone working or just sitting beside me like when the cat jumps on my lap to come get some attention or when the dogs come to sit besides me when there is a thunderstorm or sometimes they too are just looking for attention. I also enjoy it when my sisters work besides me. Sometimes we tease each other about our spelling mistakes or we get distracted and start arm wrestling but the armwrestling never slowed us down.

Another way I enjoy doing my schoolwork is when I do it in front of the fire place during the winter. Or just doing schoolwork outside.

But my most favorite part of RPC is that I get to interact with other students which I find is fun. I remember once when I was doing schoolwork towards the starting of summer vacation there was a horse that had got out and was walking along the highway which is the road our home is on. Then me and dad took the quad along the highway until we were out of our property and walked to catch the horse yet we did not. The our neighbor Pete just happened to be going by and sometimes people call him a horse whisperer or tractor Pete. Then Pete got the horse and brought it too our place and we tied it with a rope to an old fence post then we called to owner because it was one of my school buddies grandpa’s horse so then they came to get it. I’m not sure what gender the horse was. My sister olivia is the family horse fan and she was being homeschooled she would of been able to see the horse! But it’s her problem she did not want to be homeschooled then! Now she thought.

I also doing my schoolwork in the tractor when dad is planting, cutting or bailing hay. I also enjoy doing schoolwork in the truck when were going on trips like to get our ram Dodge.

Another thing I like about going on trips is I get to see a lot of cool tractors like this Deutz D62-07!

So that’s it! Hope you enjoyed!

RPC Science 5 Lesson 120

Hello! Sorry about the confusion yesterday’s essay was actually lesson 115 but it’s fixed now! Today Mr.Dignam wants me write about what I learned in science these five lessons.

So here it is:

I learned how to focus on my subject of a picture with my phone like I took a picture of a corn kernel that was slightly sprouted. Since my phone is a Apple 7S the focusing lens is slightly better than the 6S lens which is what the guy who was teaching me in the video had.

The main difference in the 6S and 7S is that the 7S has more space, two lenses, and last but not least the weight is different. I also learned that getting a bigger more expensive camera is sometimes are a better idea if you taking pictures of fast moving things like trucks.

I then learned that photography is harder than it looks so know I have more respect for the photographers that make a living of of this art.

I also discovered that lightning is very important because if the lighting is wrong with an iphone you can’t adjust the lighting much.

And that’s it hope you enjoyed!

RPC Science 5 Lesson 115

Hello! As a science lesson from Mr.Dignam on the photography semester of science.

Since we have not too much data left and we have to make it last for 4 or 3 days there will no pictures until next week sadly.

In these five lessons I learned how to change lighting on my phone since I’m pictures of my phone instead of buying an expensive camera.

In lesson 117 I had to take a picture of a object of something that moves and something moving fast. For my first picture I selected my tractors as my subject. Then I took the four wheeler to go to the stockers and took a picture of Gordon who was following me. Then we have a heifer named Great who also followed me around but instead of humbly walking she was running after me so she was a fast moving object. I think the stockers need to be moved so that’s probably why they are chasing me. I took a video but because of the data thing I can’t show it until next week. And dad just told me as he was walking by to get snack that he will need my help to move the stockers! What a coincidence!

That’s it hope you enjoyed!

Improving My Goat Business

Hello! As another dad essay dad wants me to write about things I could do to improve my goat buissnes.

So here it is!

Something I did not know is that a goat needs to be 75 to 80 pounds to have a baby.
When a baby was born with it’s sack is called a an call, which I find is sort of weird name.

Here is a list of poisonous plants for goats.

  1. Black Cohosh
  2. Bloodroot
  3. Carolina Jessamine
  4. Celandine
  5. Poppy
  6. Bleeding Heart
  7. Fumewort
  8. Hellebore
  9. Larkspur
  10. Lupine
  11. Corn Cockle
  12. Ivy
  13. Lily of the Valley
  14. White Snakeroot
  15. Milkweed PS. There is a lot of Milkweed in our region but our goats don’t seem to eat Milkweed so that’s good.
  16. Lantana
  17. Sneezeweed
  18. St.John’s Wort
  19. Wolfsbane
  20. Staggerweed
  21. Parsnips
  22. Boxwood
  23. Carolina Allspice
  24. Oleander
  25. Rhododendron
  26. Wild Black Cherry
  27. Wild Hydrangea
  28. Black Locust
  29. Buckeye
  30. Cherry I don’t think their necessarily poisonous I just think goats try to eat cherries whole and choke on the seeds.
  31. Chokecherry we’ve never had chokeberries in the same pasture as the goats.
  32. Elderberry
  33. Laurel
  34. Johnson Grass There is lot’s of this grass around but the goats seem to eat and be fine so I think this one’s a mistake
  35. Buckwheat We grow buckwheat but we’ve never fed one to a goat so now I know to no do that.
  36. Horsenettle
  37. Buttercups they also grow in our region but the sheep get those before the goats do normally.
  38. Pinetrees of course there is pine trees here but I know they don’t eat the leaves so now I know why they don’t eat it. One thing they do is the one’s with horns rub their horns against the trees until their bark is of then they leave it alone weird?

You can have 4 goats per acre. And one goat can fit in about a 5×10 feet backyard or if you feed it hay you can keep it in a barn.

The world’s largest goat was a British Saanen named Mostyn Moorcock, owned by Pat Robinson of Ewyas Harold, Hereford & Worcester, UK. It reached a shoulder height of 44 in and an overall length of 66 in.

The main way I tell my breeds is by color and color pattern like Boer goats have a brown face with a white stripe in the middle. Kiko goat are completely black normally but can technically be any color.

I created a way to tell breeds. I use horns to identify my goats and tell their breed. Like Salt has long semi curled horns that are light brown and have little lumps every inch. And my secondary buck called Ron Maclean’s horns are dark brown and grow behind the head like Salt’s horns then instead of curling back to the head they go sideways, and it’s like that on all of the purebred Boer goats I’ve ever had.

Things that will help me improve my goats health is giving them some alfalfa pellets with some molasses on them.

During the winter I should maybe pen the goats separate from the rest of the herd except for the older babies so I can wean them. Then I will be able to give the moms grain so they can get more fat and the goats that will go for meat will still be grass fed!

I should start dehorning my goats so when we are foot trimming them or etc their horns don’t stab us. Like once two year ago I got a black eye from our former buck Don Cherry’s horns although they where already partially cut. So they aren’t sharp anymore. Sadly I could not find any pictures of him. But anyways he looked something like this except his horns where curled into one on the left side of his head. He was a purebred Saanen wich is dairy breed. Since we used to be a big dairy goat farm we used to have a lot of dairy goats. Now I’ve got two Boer bucks which are a meat breed my goal is to keep the girls with the most Boer genetics so soomeday I can get to the point of having all purebred Boer goats.

RPC Science 5 Lesson 110

Hello! Today in science I learned about three main things:

  1. How to make a pinhole camera
  2. How to print images from a pinhole camera
  3. And how to make the mixture that lets you make the picture.

So first of all too make a pinhole camera you need a box that is the size of shoe box or smaller. Then by pinning a hole in the camera you create the pinhole part of the camera. Then you cut a half inch square on the opposite side of the pinhole and about an inch away from the pinhole you cut another half inch square and then you cover it with duct tape. On the opposite side of the second square you can but your piece of paper there. Then before you can use it you will need to make some sort of lid over the pinhole so you can let light in when you want. You can rather buy the mixture or create the mixture yourself with everyday house things. Youll first need.

  • 500ML’s of water
  • 10g’s of dried mint
  • 10g’s of baking soda
  • 2g vitamin C tablets
  • 5ml’s of lemon juice

Since you probably won’t understand the way I was going to explain how to mix it i’ll let you watch the video I watched. And in this video it will also show you how to print the pictures.

So that’s it hope you enjoyed!

RPC Science 5 Lesson 105

Hello! This week in science I started a new semester about photography!

The main thing I learned about this week is about the first photographs.

So the first way I learned was called the Daguerreotype that was created by Louis Daguerre who was a man who was born and lived in France his whole life. Here is how the Daguerreotype works! It creates a highly detailed image on a sheet of copper plated with a thin coat of silver. After the exposure to light, the plate was developed over hot mercury until an image appeared.

And during the same time a man from England named Henry Fox Talbot was inventing his own prototype called Talbot’s process. The main difference was the Daguerreotype is a direct photographic process without the capacity for duplication. The main differences are that calotypes are negatives that are later printed as positives on paper and that Daguerreotypes are negative images on mirrored surfaces that reflect a positive looking image. So I have to explain how Talbot’s process works so here’s how: The Talbot Process is an early photographic technique invented by Henry Fox Talbot  in the 1830s. In this technique, a sheet of paper coated with silver chloride was exposed to light in a camera obscura; those areas hit by light became dark in tone, yielding a negative image. Which is really cool to see! In one of the lesson videos a man named George Did the Talbot Process and the Daguerreotype and the Talbot process took longer to dry and for the image to appear. Here is a very old image of my grandpa when he was my age:

No this is not a Daguerreotype or Talbot Process type of picture. I’m pretty sure it’s one of the first digital pictures.

Here are some pictures I took recently most of them are from my vacation to Earlton I’ll have a post about that tomorrow.

That’s it!

RPC Science 5 Lesson 100

Hello! Here is what Mr.Dignam wants me to do today! Write a short essay on your Citizen Science project. Answer the following questions:

  1. What are scientists trying to learn from this project?
  2. What kind of data are scientists using?
  3. Where did they get the data from?

So Here’s my work:

Scientist are trying to learn from this project so that they can get people living on Mars. One of the many things they are trying to know is how much will it cost for one person to live a full life on Mars. How much oxygen will it take for a full lifetime on Mars same goes for water. Also since sand storms happen so often that they can last for months if it would be best if they lived high in the sky like on a inactive volcano or underground. They are also trying to discover if Mars was truly like Earth millions of years ago and they are trying to discover why the top side of Mars seems to be younger than the bottom. On a Ted Talk in one of my lessons the person talking thinks that the top half was full of water.

The Scientist get there data from NASA from using the rocks Nasa’s rovers recovers from space. They also Use information from astronauts passing by when there going to the moon or the International Space station. Also they get data from astronomers looking through there telescope’s. They also get a lot of their information from people like Elon Musk but I’m assuming his information only goes to his scientist he has hired.

I just thought of an idea! Maybe someday I could build what Mars would look like when people are living on it except i’ll make it in Minecraft! That’s it tell what you think about my idea in the comments please!

RPC Science 5 Lesson 95

Hello! Here is what Mr.Dignam wants me to do in science today! Assignment: Write a short article about the ISS or the Soyuz rocket and spacecraft. What problems did the spacecraft designers have to solve?

My Choice is the Soyuz rocket and spacecraft because the way it launches and lands is very interesting to me. So here is my assignment:

When The rocket launches there are the giant phone tower looking arms that along the rocket to wherever there launching it so for example the International Space Station. When the Soyuz is preparing to leave the ISS the ground team as I call them, finds a flat area that is uninhabited that is within 350 kilometers from the nearest town and the rocket launch site. The rescue team that goes pickup the rocket and the astronauts go in any condition from 5 feet of snow to a sand storm. I wonder if there’s any farm fields in that region. Imagine a farmers was ploughing his when the rocket landed in his field and because the rocket would shake the ground it ruined all his work in that field. I bet he wouldn’t be to happy.

That’s it!

RPC English 5 Lesson 70

Hello! Here is what Mrs.Fish wanted me to do today!

Writing Assignment: Write a final draft of your essay on the following topic: Who is an influential person in your life and why?

So here it is:

My dad is definitely a very influential person in my life because first of all he is my dad. He is the person who inspired me to be a farmer. And my family comes from a long line of farmers so I want to live up our family legacy. My grandpa’s first tractor was a Massey Ferguson 35 which is the first Massey Ferguson tractor ever. My dad’s first tractor was a Massey Ferguson 270 and mine is a Farmall SW4. I’m not sure what my great grandpa’s first tractor might of been but I’m assuming it could of been a Fergusson, Massey Harris or a old tractor that had metal tires.

My dad really influence me because he is the one who helps me with a lot of things like I remember once he help me replace the chain on my bike. and I’ve done many cool things with him and even grandpa like fix the bailer when a sprocket broke.

In the picture dad is on the bailer I’m on the ladder and granpa is the guy leaning on the bailer.

I remember one of the first times I helped dad fix a few shear bolts that kept breaking over and over again on the manure spreader. He is also the one who taught me how to drive the tractors for the first time and he has taught me how to run almost everything on the farm besides the dump trailer because I new how to run the hydraulics and how to back up the trailer. And I hope he might know how to start my tractor once I fix it up.

I remember early this summer I was raking with the small tractor and I remember one of the pins that hold the three point hitch broke and I called dad and we were able to fix it together.

There was also another time when the belt on the lawn mower popped of and dad called grandpa and asked him if he could bring a belt next time he came so we can fix the lawn mower then the day grandpa came we fixed the lawn mower!

Last weekend I helped dad but the doors back on the M9540 since the AC broke down early this summer and we weren’t able to fix it and since it’s getting cold again we put the doors back on it. But the AC breaking down is not Kubota’s fault that happened it’s the AC manufacturers fault.

I’m also very glad he kept his photo album because there is many cool pictures in there. Here is a picture of a Massey Claas combine my dad and grandpa where looking at back when does where brand new wich was 1980’s to 1990’s.

Grandpa is in front of the combine in that picture.

Here is a picture Emma took of dad in 2019 without asking to use my phone 🙄.

That’s it!
