Weekly Farm Post

This week we finally moved the cows to pasture, the flerd went to the biggest and the most rocky paddock. This week as one of my assignments was to make a shed for Patrick Kane, well really it was my idea to do that but I have one wall done so far. This weekend I’m going to do my baby siting course and my sisters are in a mini star competition at school (my sisters go to school but not me I’m home schooled).

Here is this weeks photo album.

Weekly Farm Post

we just moved the flerd to the closest paddock if your wondering what a flerd is it is a mix of sheep, goats and some bottle calves. Not all calves need to be bottle fed it’s just for the ones that go whit the flerd. We also have a guard dog and a pony to protect the flerd from predators like bears and coyotes. By the way kid means baby goat.

And here is this weeks photo album.

What Else I Learned

(from lessons 5 to 10)

I learned about observing beetles and lady bugs. Did you know that lady bugs are a species of beetles?

I learned how to collect, preserve and display insects, I even did one with a beetle dad found and I collected it, then preserved it after that I displayed it. Sadly the cat knocked it down.

There is most of what I learned from lesson 5 to lesson 10.

What I Learned

(from lessons 1 to 5)

I learned about the insect taxonomy which that is the way most scientist use to tell which family the insect is from. Also I learned about the insect life cycle, there are two kinds of metamorphosis incomplete metamorphosis and complete metamorphosis, for example butterflies go thru complete metamorphosis which is about a four stage cycle, stage #1 eggs, #2 larva, #3 chrysalis and #4 which that is adult.

There is what I learned from lesson 1 to lesson 5.

Home Schooling and Farming

Hi I’m Jake, I live in Canada, I’m 11 years old and I own about 17 goats and my parents own 8 so I can make money. I have been home schooled for three weeks now.

How I started getting home schooled: It was on a Thursday evening when I got home off the school bus. As I entered the house, mom and dad greeted me as always and then told me that I am going to be home schooled. So I said OK it will be fun, and it is fun being home schooled because you finish your work 2 times faster then you would at normal school. So now I’m better then ever!
