What Would be the Best Stockers To Add To Our Herd?

Hello! Today I will be writing about some stockers my dad could use to add to our herd since we still need to expand our herd since we are selling tons of meat. So to determine this I will make a top 3 list with three reasons why this group of cows every heading.

1

https://www.kijiji.ca/v-livestock/trenton-on/hereford-females/1487920982?undefined

Here are my three resons

1 Hereford is the best meat breed of all time.

2 Herefords have the stocky legs we want.

3 It would be good to keep some of them if they look like good parents.

2

https://www.kijiji.ca/v-livestock/stratford-on/speckle-park-for-sale/1489241370?undefined

1 Speckle Parks are very Similar to Red Angus the only difference is that they can be any color in any pattern.

2 Speckle Parks have stocky legs.

3 Speckle Parks are a great meat breed.

3

https://www.kijiji.ca/v-livestock/belleville/bred-heifers/1488028889?undefined

1 Hereford Red Angus Crosses are the ultimate cross in my opinion.

2 Hereford and Red Angus have both stocky legs.

3 Hereford and Red Angus can get pretty fat pretty quick when they are on grass which makes them pretty good for what we want!

And that’s the end of this essay!

RPC History 4 Lesson 45

Hello! Here is my assignment from Mr.Livingston: how did the collapse of the Roman Empire lead to the creation of a wide variety of glass styles compared to the common style (clear, thin) that was produced within the Empire?

The collapse of the Roman Empire triggered new types of glass like the Forest Glass because the remaining people did not have the substance of natron. Natron is a mineral that is used to make glass and was also used to mummify people it is found at the bottom of dried out lakes consisting of dried carbonite dioxide. It was too dangerous to go to the part of Egypt where it was found. The reason it was too dangerous to go there was because ancient Egypt fell not too long after the Roman Empire did and then as they were rebuilding they needed all the resources they could get and because there were so many deaths when ancient Egypt collapsed there was no natron left even though ten years later they were letting certain people use their substances again. People started experimenting by mixing things together like in northern Europe they used sand and tree ashes to make their version of forest glass which was green, brown clearish. Then in southern Europe people where using plant ashes like grass to mix with sand to make their version of Forest Glass.

And that’s it for this essay!

The Development Of The Pineapple

Hello so this morning my dad assigned me to write an essay instead of doing a normal homeschool day. Here is his essay: Please research how pineapples are grown and produced, including whether or not they have a flower at any time or not.

So let’s get to it!

The sword like leaves can grow up to about 5 feet! that’s almost as tall as me! (I’m 5,2 ft). The Pineapple grows through a central stem. The fruit is actually the result of dozens of individual fruit-producing flowers that have fused into a single fruit, which is capped with a “crown” sporting numerous short leaves. When removed, the crown of the pineapple fruit contains small roots. If it’s planted into the ground (or a pot), a new fruit-producing plant will grow. Additionally, the plant’s “suckers” (side shoots that grow in between the leaves of the main stem) and slips (tiny plantlets that grow out from the base of the pineapple fruit) can produce new plants when re-planted.

Use for pineapples: https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/138159/pineapple-and-banana-smoothie/

So I don’t really like pineapples when alone but I do like them in smoothies and in pineapple juice. I don’t like going to hot places but if I had to go to one I would go to Pineapple country during harvesting season and help harvest the Pineapples.

RPC ENG 5 L20 (Final Draft)

Hello. Today my assignment Mrs.Fish assigned me to do is this: Write a paragraph on your favorite things to do.

So I am going to write about my five most favorite things to do.

#5 Snowmobiling

The reason I like going snowmobiling is because of all the cool jumps, I also get to see giant trees. Cool abandoned hunting sheds, cool rivers, and friends, and I will be able to get my license on the 30th of April this year!

#4 Four wheeling

Although me and my family don’t use the Ontario Four Wheeling trails, we do love to go four wheeling and we normally go around the farm once in a while we will cross the highway, and go to the hay fields to bring me and dad lunch. Or we go to check on the sheep when their grazing on pasture.

#3 Spending Time With My Family

I say this a lot that I like to spend time with my family but a big reason why on the 1st of april. My dad secretly put a tea bag string and a cup full of apple cider vinegar in my tea mug and I thought it was my normal every morning tea and I drank it!

#2 Playing Lego

The reason I like playing lego is because it helps me think better, it also makes family impressed with me. Like that one time I made I functioning PTO shaft. I also enjoy making lego wars and making monsters.

#1 Spending Time With My Animals

I like spending time with my animals because their very good at making funny faces, they are also fun to watch, and when I’m down they make me feel better, like when they climb on me, when they headbut togheter, and when they lay down besides me.

I also have some good baby goat pictures! here they are:

That’s it!

RPC History 4 Lesson 40

Hello! Here is Mr.Livingston’s essay for me too write! This is the end of the eighth week in the course. You have learned about 32 different inventions. Which one has been your favorite so far, and why?

My favorite invention would be the heavy plow even though on our farm we try not to practice tilling. The reason the heavy plow is my favorite invention from this course so for is because without the plow I would not have time to write on my blog. we would have small fields all over the place. But you might be saying we can still till the fields well no because without the plow the tiller would not of been invented. But thanks to the No-till seed drill we would not need to till up our fields we would just have to plant them and remember where we passed. I also find that the plow is important so farmers now where there planting.

And it’s a rap up!

Educational Night

Hello! Last night my family and I went for a walk on one of the fields we are renting to see how our rye and winter pea mix was doing.

Although it looks like this field’s crop from last year wasn’t harvested it actually was. The dead stuff is the residue which will collapse onto the soil then the worms and mycorrhizae fungi will eat it then that one single plant can help 2 more plants. Do you see the little green things? Those are this years crop of rye and winter peas which both can survive the winter and most of the plants survived.

Now you must be wondering what mycorrhizae fungi is. Well mycorrhizae fungi is a type of fungi that is microscopic and so there is millions in our soils but then if you compare it to some conventional farmers fields you must be wondering where is the mycorrhizae fungi? Well we do no tillage and some farmers will till and plow their fields every year. No till is when we don’t plow or till a field even though we have all sorts of tillage equipment we only use it if necessary or if we are leveling out a field or renovating fields that were abandoned. Here is a picture of mycorrhizae fungi!

The mycorrhizae fungi is also known as the Funguy for a joke.

We also checked on our new ditch we had a tilling crue did for us.

I then went to our friend Jordans hunting stand to take a picture of the biggest oak tree I’ve ever seen close to where I live.

On the way back to the truck Emma was bugging me because she thought this was a good picture.

Then we found the remains of a giant tillage Radish a Moose or Deer had nibbled on.

When we got home we went to put the chickens inside the chicken trailer and then little innocent Max wanted some attention even though it was dark and hard to see.

Here is a video of the hens coming out of the chicken trailer.

Also we found an NHL licensed Chicago Blackhawks puck in our toy shed!

And this is what we did at the end of the day. I’m the tallest kid with the hat.

And that’s what we did for this field trip!
