Hello! Dad wants me to write an essay on why does the color of your hair change as you age? The reason I am doing this project is because one of our Jersey cross bottle Calf was very light brown when he first came to the farm then his hair started turning black! So I wondered why this was happening and dad said I should do research on it and write an essay on it! So here I am!
Here is what I found!
The amount of eumelanin pigment determines how dark our hair is. The genes for making melanin might turn on or off over the course a person’s lifetime. If this happens in the cells at the bottom of your hairs, your hair might change color! Cool right? So maybe the pigment was changing on that calf because the cells at the bottom of his hairs were not working!

Thanks! Jersey’s are for dairy so we only get bottle calves thjat are holsteins and jersey’s for ground meat. I like the type of horns Jersey’s grow’s

So you don’t milk your cows? I got to see to two baby Jerseys once and they had the longest eyelashes! They were so cute!

It is not. My dad was milking cows for a neighboor and got kicked and sprang his ancle.

Yes it did but not as bad as that one time my foot got run over by the fourwheeler or the time I broke my leg

I was skating in a homemade hockey rink dad made and got my skate got in a crack and twisted my leg to the point of breaking it. I had two castes for 3 months. Do you want to now what was the worst part of getting my fooot ran over by the fourwheeler?

We where to much people on the fourwheeler (That was silly) and my foot got cought in the tire and I got flipped of the flourwheeler and my leg got ran over.

YEs they did but what’s funny is I did not break my leg in the fourwheeler accident I thought I would of been fine when I broke my leg!

Well, we were racing, and some how I managed to trip her, and when she fell she broke her arm, like it twisted when she landed on it.

Oh Shoot! That is sort of what happened with my sister! We where playing soccer and I jumped to hedbut the ball and somehow she triped in my legs and twisted her arm two!

Ouch! Yeah, I tripped over my own feet, and in attempts to right myself, somehow she ended up tripping as well. Lol we both think it’s funny now!

Yes they start on the bottle then we send them to pasture with the flerd next they go with the big stolkers group then they go to the slaughter house once their ready but we mainly use them for making ground meat wich make hamburgers and stuff like that.
